Abstract

Zeolite has a three-dimensional structure that has pores through which water can pass. Ca and Mg ions will be exchanged with Na and K ions from the zeolite, so that the water is free from hardness. In this study, we carried out the Zeolite Activation process using 0.1 N NaOH to become zeolite which was tested for its absorption capacity of Ca 2+ ions. In this study, we carried out an adsorption test with a zeolite weight parameter of 0;0.05; 0.10; 015;0,20 and 0.25 for a mixture of water containing hardness, namely Ca2+ ions. Stirring speed is about 50 rpm. The adsorption contact time was 15 minutes. The results of complexiometric analysis of calcium content showed that the optimum adsorption of zeolite towards Ca ions occurred at a zeolite weight of 0,1867 g, which was 40,3272 ppm. Based on this, the more activated zeolite added to adsorb calcium ions, the higher the adsorption effectiveness.
