Abstract

Waste management is a big challenge in efforts to create a clean and sustainable environment. Waste that is not managed properly can pollute the environment, damage ecosystems and worsen climate change. Therefore, it is important to implement an efficient and environmentally friendly waste management system. This review aims to examine various approaches to waste management that can support the creation of a clean, healthy and sustainable environment. Some of the main approaches discussed in this review include: reducing waste at the source, sorting waste, recycling, and utilizing organic and inorganic waste. Apart from that, community participation is also an important aspect in waste management, both through education, increasing awareness, and collaboration with the government and the private sector. Implementation of policies that support effective and efficient waste management is also the key to the success of sustainable waste management programs.
